Refer someone to our mentoring service
Mentoring is for anyone affected by spinal cord injury. We have a diverse range of mentors, who come from all different walks of life. We match people based on their needs, life experiences, injury level, relationship to the person with a spinal cord injury, and interests.
Whether you are a healthcare professional, a family member or a friend, you can refer someone to our mentoring service at any time by completing the relevant short form below. To do so, you need their permission and their basic details.
Once you’ve referred someone you will be sent a confirmation email. The person you have referred will then be contacted via email letting them know they’ve been referred. This email will also share more information about the service and ask them to sign up to our Mentorloop program. Mentoring at Back Up uses a system called Mentorloop. This system enables mentors and mentees to talk to each other, to arrange calls and set goals together.
Once they have completed the sign-up process one of the mentoring team will give them a call within a couple of weeks to find out anything more, clarify their understanding of the service and work out a suitable mentor for them.
Mentoring is and always will be accessible for anyone affected by spinal cord injury. If this system isn’t a viable option for the person you are referring, for example, they do not have internet please make a note on the form and we will contact them by telephone.
